The Internship and Training Programs aim to provide international participants with a structured opportunity to advance their professional competencies and deepen their expertise within their respective academic disciplines. Through supervised, practical training, participants will acquire insights into American methodologies, practices, and sector-specific expertise, fostering mutual understanding and professional growth.
An important goal of the programs is to offer international participants an immersive experience in the American culture and business practices by living alongside Americans. Upon their return to their home countries participants share their experiences with their countrymen and help foster international understanding of the United States culture and identity.
Talent Connect participants can apply for opportunities in the following program categories:
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Management, Business, Commerce and Finance
- The Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, and Industrial Occupations
Internship Program
The Intern program is designed for international students who are either currently enrolled in university outside the United States or have graduated from university outside the United States no more than 12 months prior to his or her program start date. The participants must have excellent to fluent English skills.
Training Program
The Trainee Program is designed for foreign individuals who have a degree or professional certificate from a postsecondary institution outside the United States and at least one-year work experience in the related field OR that have at least 5 years of work experience outside of the United States in the occupational field in which they are seeking training. Trainee participants must be fluent English so they can participate effectively in their Trainee Program.
Eligibility Requirements:
Degree and certificate programs must meet the following criteria to count toward program eligibility:

The degree or certificate must be earned outside of the United States from a ministerially recognized post-secondary academic institution.

Programs must include a minimum of 2 years of coursework.

One-year master’s programs is accepted towards eligibility only if applicant completes their first year of studies prior to beginning the internship.

A minimum of 50% of coursework must be academic in nature and be offered in a classroom setting.
What is Included:
- DS-2019 and DS-7002 T/IPP form

- Identification on housing leads and site visit to host organization (if required)
- Continuous support while in the U.S.

- Incentives paid upon submission of written feedback/evaluation ($200-$500)
What is NOT Included:
- SEVIS FEE ($220)
- U.S. Embassy Visa Application Fee ($185)
- International / domestic airfare
- Housing fee & deposits, meals and spending money, program transfer & extension fee.
- Translation of legal documents (if applicable)
- Pocket money

Work Hard
Your host organization expects you to be hard‐working!
Be punctual
Always arrive at the host site ten minutes early!
Be respectful
Treat your co-workers and managers with respect. You should listen carefully to what they say. Accept new challenges with a smile!
Dress appropriately
Your clothes and your appearance should be clean and presentable. Your host organization will expect you to have good hygiene and be dressed appropriately.
